Teen Hygiene Project

The Kiawah Women’s Foundation launched the Teen Hygiene Project to help ensure students have access to essential personal care items that support their health, confidence, and well-being. The program has evolved over time to better meet student needs, transitioning from distributing filled backpacks to stocking on-campus hygiene closets at local middle and high schools. This approach allows students to access items discreetly and independently, whenever they are needed.

The hygiene closets are regularly stocked with shampoo, conditioner, face wash, body lotion, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lip balm, hair styling products, brushes, combs, and hair accessories. To further support menstrual health, KWF has also provided period product dispensers at both St. John’s High School and Baptist Hill Middle and High Schools, ensuring students have reliable access to these essential supplies.

By helping meet everyday personal care needs, the Teen Hygiene Project promotes confidence, reduces barriers to attendance, and supports students’ overall well-being.
